Character's personality:
B'Elanna Torres is a very loyal person, to any cause that she believes in. She is loyal to the Maquis, almost to a fault, as in it got her into a lot of trouble when she first joined the Starfleet crew. In the beginning she liked to do things on her own, and she very much thought of the two crews as different entities. She did not have an easy life, growing up half Klingon/Half human was not easy for her. She had a close relationship with her parents, but then as she grew up she began to feel insecure about being different. The fact that her father abandoned her and her mother did not help her feel that being Klingon was alright. It has really haunted her for her entire adult life, and motivated her to feel a driving need to prove herself.

The desire and need to prove herself might not be considered a positive personality trait. She is impulsive in her drive, and Rash. She often finds herself at odds with the rest of her crew. This is evident when she continually turns the safety off on the Holedeck in an effort to get herself to feel something. The passion she feels for both her job and the people she cares about comes out quite often. She is not good at expressing herself, but that does not mean she doesn't feel things deeply. That has never been more evident than in her relationship with Tom Paris.

Tom is probably the one person that understand what makes B'Elanna tick, and after many years she finally has reached some level of acceptance. It has not always been smooth sailing, and her abandonment issues almost derailed the relationship many times. She fought letting anyone get close to her, but somehow she let Tom in, and a strong bond was formed. They know each other so well that even when they didn't remember each other, they still fought to be together.

B'Elanna is an angry woman, and she feels that she has every reason to be. She has always had to fight for everything, and mostly she has been fighting herself. Her Klingon side vs her human side, and it was best shown when her Klingon DNA got separated from her human side. She was literally two separte people. B'Elanna seems happier has a human, not having to battle with her anger, and herself all the time. She has felt that the Klingon side of her cost her any chance she might have had at a happy family. B'Elanna, did however learn to respect her baser more Klingon side, and instead of letting the anger control her, she used it to her advantage. Unlike most, full Klingons, B'Elanna turns to her human side, more than her Klingon side in most situations. The revelation that she needed both sides of herself to function normally opened up her eyes, and caused her to feel more confident and comfortable in her own skin.

B'Elanna is a logical concrete thinker, even though her Klingon side, brings out the passion in her. She likes to fix things, and she tends to steer away from anything that is not concrete. Engineering allows her to feed her need for answers. Tom and B'Elanna are on the same wave length when it comes to their passions, because piloting does the same thing for Tom. They really compliment each other personally and professionally.
Character's skills/abilities/powers:
B'Elanna is an expert in Holo technology, and built the Doctor on Voyager a holoemitter so he could leave sick bay. She can also turn an disadvantage into an advantage, and has gotten voyager out of many scrapes that way. She built a proton modulator helping Voyager escape the void.

If you answered yes above, briefly summarize how they were changed by and what challenges they faced in the climate of their previous game(s):
Why do you want to play this character in Ten Forward, and what do you plan to do with them? B'Elanna may not have started out in Starfleet, but she adapts quickly. She would be a good addition to any crew. She has a very smart head on her shoulders, and uses logic to work through most everything.

B’Elanna’s arms wrapped around her middle, almost as if they were somehow shielding her from the pain of talking to her father had brought back to the forefront of her brain. She had gotten very used to pushing things away. Life was much easier when you didn’t have to feel things. It was times like this that she was almost grateful to be half Klingon. She could compartmentalize everything, and maintain the order that she liked to keep in her life.

She hadn’t counted on Tom though. He added chaos into her perfectly structured world. He was chaos and she was order, he was the ying to her yang. They were polar opposites in every sense of the word. She liked order, discipline and structure, he battled authority at every turn. B’Elanna marveled at the changes her life had taken over the seven years that they were aboard Voyager.

She never thought in a million years that she would find a home and a family. She thought that all of that, those dreams and ideals were lost to her when her father left her all those years ago. She certainly never thought that she would find it aboard a board a galaxy class starship, light years away from home. She had indeed done that.

She went from an abrasive Maqui soldier, to a Chief Engineer on a Starfleet ship. It hadn’t always been an easy battle, but She gave herself enough credit to know when it paid to be weak, and when she being stronger was better. She used both skills to her full advantage aboard this ship.

She looked around one last time, and realized that she would probably never feel this sense of kinship again, and she was glad about that, because her time aboard Voyager was unique, and not something that could be replicated.
